A woman has been arrested by the police in neighbouring Palghar district for allegedly hacking her own son to death.
A case of murder was registered against Jaya Tarela (46), resident of Nalla Sopara, at Waliv police station yesterday, an official said.
The victim was identified as Santosh Tarela (27).
Santosh often drank liquor and harassed his mother, the police officer said.
As per the complaint filed by the woman's husband, Santosh came home drunk on the night of July 30 and picked up a quarrel with his mother.
In a fit of anger, Jaya got hold of an axe and hacked him to death on the spot, the complaint said.
She was arrested yesterday. Further probe is underway.
