Woman brands minor stepson with iron rods for bed-wetting

A woman was arrested here for allegedly branding her five-year-old stepson with iron rods and tying him upside down for wetting his bed.
The minor boy, Golu was branded with hot iron rods and tied upside down by his step-mother Manju and his father Vijay as a punishment for his habitual bed-wetting, according to a complaint lodged with police on Tuesday.
The complaint was lodged by a social activist who helped in rescuing the child.
The accused -- Manju and Vijay -- also confined the boy in their house in Lohegaon area for three days from November 9 before neighbours came to know about the inhuman torture after hearing Golu's loud cries, leading to police intervention.

While Manju was immediately arrested, the boy's father managed to escape, police said.
A case was registered against the couple under relevant sections of IPC and Juvenile Justice Act.
Golu, who is in a state of shock, is undergoing treatment for burn injuries all over the body in a hospital.
