Woman constable attacked by husband in jail compound

A woman constable posted at Dasna jail was severly injured after being allegedly attacked by her husband inside jail premises over some domestic issues.
The constable Sunita was posted as inmates' security guard inside the jail premises. She was brutally attacked by her husband Sunil last night at the government quarters inside the jail after a heated argument between the two, Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma said.
Sharma said that in a fit of rage, the accused, a resident of district Ghazipur, attacked his wife with a spade.
The victim was rushed to a hospital by the jail staff and is currently recuperating, police said.

Meanwhile, the accused surrendered himself at police station Masuri, they said.
An FIR under section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) has been registered and Sunil has been sent to jail, Sharma said.
The couple has been married since 2005.
District Jail Superintendent S P Yadav said that Sunita was a national volley ball player and a disciplined constable and she never complained of any dispute with her husband.
