After a woman constable from Rajpipla police station in Narmada district committed suicide earlier this week, her family members staged a protest outside the police station with her body, demanding her colleague's arrest, who allegedly forced her to take the extreme step.
According to the police, 26-year-old Vasanti Vasava who was a Pratappura village native used to serve as a constable at police station.
She committed suicide by hanging herself at her government quarters near the police station on Wednesday night, police said.
After learning about her suicide, her family members alleged that head constable Vijaysinh Vaghela, who is posted in the same police station, is responsible for her step.
"Vaghela who is her senior used to harrase my sister. He along with his wife used to torture her mentally and physically. So we have asked the police to lodge a case of abetment of suicide against them," Vasava's younger brother Raghu Vaghela said.
After protests by Vasava's family members and villagers, the local police filed an FIR against Vaghela and his wife for abetting suicide yesterday.
Meanwhile, the police sent her body for post mortem to Vadodara yesterday night.
After her body arrived in the town from Vadodara today evening, Vasava's family members and a large number of villagers once again took her body to the police station and began a protest demanding immediate arrest of the Vaghela couple.
