Woman fatally knocked down by car of DCP's father
Press Trust of India Coimbatore A 22-year-old woman was killed when a car belonging to a senior police official's father, knocked her down here today.
A constable, who was driving the car, has been suspended pending inquiry, police said.
Rahena Begaum, a private bank employee, was proceeding to her bank in a two-wheeler when the car, belonging to Ramiah, the father of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramya Bharathi, dashed against it while attempting to overtake, they said.
Rahena fell into a ditch and died on the spot.
According to preliminary inquiry, Ramaiah, a retired district collector, was in the car when the mishap occurred.
Constable Ashok Kumar, attached to Armed Reserve Police, has been suspended pending inquiry into the mishap, police added.
