Woman found dead in Thane house

A 68-year-old woman was today
found dead in her flat at Sharadha Bhavan building in Panchpakadi area here, police said.
The Naupada police under whose jurisdiction the building falls, told PTI that the old lady identified as Pratibha Madhav Kulkarni lived alone and had remained indoors for couple of days.
Her relatives visited her at times to enquire on her well being. It was a couple of days ago, that they came visiting but returned after she did not open the door.
Again this morning, when they arrived, a foul smell emanating from the closed house brought the death into light following which they broke open the doors and found her in a decomposed state lying on her bed, police added.

The time of her death is yet not known. On intimation from her relatives police rushed to the spot and took charge of the body and sent it to JJ Hospital for postmortem, the report of which is still awaited.
A case of accidental death has been registered with the Naupada police.
