While police denied that the woman was raped, villages alleged that some anti-social elements dragged her to the field while she was returning to village Kasa from a weekly bazaar last evening.
"Police have registered an offence under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC against unknown persons. We can comment only after post-mortem is done," said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ashok Nakhate.
Police also recovered various articles like a carry bag, rope, broken bangles, etc. At the site of the incident.
