A woman was shot dead by two unidentified armed persons outside her office here today in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, police said.
The woman, identified as Shwerdhipen Bapee, was a clerk in the Irrigation Department and was coming out of the office when two armed youths shot at her from point blank range, killing her on the spot, they said.
The police suspect that the woman's husband, Arnold Teron, who was a former UPDS militant could be behind the killing as the duo had a strained marital relationship.
A massive hunt has been launched to nab Teron along with the assailants who managed to escape from the spot, police added.
