A woman, who got stranded on one side of the Ravi river due to higher water levels following rainfall, has been rescued by the police in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district, an official said today.
A special investigative team of Chamba police was passing through Gehra, about 400 km from Shimla, when they saw the woman stranded yesterday, Chamba Superintendent of Police (SP) Monica Bhutunguru told PTI.
The started a rescue operation and swam across the river to save her. The woman was rescued in the hour-long operation, the SP said.
The woman has been identified as Anita of Lil village in Bharmour area of the district. Her family members have been called to Gehra police post, she added.
