Woman thrown out from pool car

A woman who stopped a car to hitch a ride on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass was thrown out by the driver after she raised an alarm when it did not head to her destination, police sources said today.
The 36-year-old woman who stopped the car at the Mathpukur crossing on the bypass past midnight last night for a ride to the Ruby hospital crossing, shouted out to a police van which was passing when the driver tried to head in another direction, the sources said.
The driver then threw the woman out of the running car and sped away.
The woman received minor injuries in the fall.
The police were investigating.
