In the first trailer of the film, Allen's character is seen playing a failed bookseller who takes on the job of a pimp by fixing dates with lonely women and Turturro's character, the Hollywood Reporter said.
The film will screen at the Toronto Film Festival this September. Apart from Allen, Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara and Vanessa Paradis star as female clients.
Turturro, who also wrote the script, said it was their barber that helped him bag Allen for the role.
Allen was interested in doing the role after the barber told him the premise of 'Fading Gigolo'.
The 77-year-old filmmaker rarely takes up acting assignments outside of projects directed by him.
