Asserting that the ruling Congress was on a strong footing in Haryana, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said his party would seek votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections on the basis of development.
"Each and every section of the society is satisfied with the all-round development that has taken place in the state during the present government's regime. The Congress party's position is strong in Haryana and it will win all seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections," Hooda told reporters here.
The Congress won nine out of 10 Lok Sabha seats in the 2009 elections.
Asked to comment on the issues the party will take up during the election campaign, the Chief Minister said his Congress party would seek votes on the basis of development.
"Congress would bag all parliamentary seats in the state in the coming elections," he said.
In reply to another question, Hooda said that significant development works had been carried out in the state during the regime of the present government.
"Metro rail has reached Haryana and special emphasis is being laid on rail and road infrastructure in the state. It is expected that the state would get an airport in future which is in process," he added.
When his attention was drawn to a recent statement about "baraat and jang ke ghode", the Chief Minster said his statement was not meant for any particular person. "The media has presented my statement as a story," he said.
Hooda had recently said in a lighter vein that "horses are of two types...One which is part of a race and the other of a marriage party."
"Horse which is part of race will run the race while the horse that is part of a marriage will go along with the party," he had said.
This statement had evoked sharp reaction from the camp of former Union Minister Selja who was being sent to the Rajya Sabha. Selja represented the Ambala constituency in the Lok Sabha.
