Senior IPS officer and chief security commissioner of Western Railways Uday Shukla died today due to prolonged illness at a private hospital here.
He was husband of Pune police commissioner Rashmi Shukla.
Shukla, Inspector General, Railway Protection Force (RPF), was posted as chief security commissioner, WR, in Mumbai.
Shukla, who was suffering from Cancer, was shifted to a private hospital in Pune after his health deteriorated recently.
According to his family sources, Shukla was undergoing treatment for the last few years.
He is survived by wife Rashmi Shukla, a son and a daughter.
His last rites will be performed tomorrow.
