"I am deeply saddened by the heartbreaking demise of Yash Chopra. I had very recently spent an endearing time with him and Shah Rukh Khan in Kashmir where they were shooting for his last directorial venture "Jab Tak Hai Jaan," Shukla said here today.
"His zeal for filmmaking simply epitomized his immeasurable contribution in augmenting Indian and international cinema through a decorated career spanning over 5 decades," he added.
However the Congress MP was "shocked" that someone of Chopra's stature passed away due to dengue fever despite being provided with the best medical facilities in a city like Mumbai.
"It is shocking to know that in a city like Mumbai which has got the best medical facilities; a person of his stature died of dengue."
"The approbation conferred to him by bollywood is a fitting tribute for our eternal pioneer Yash Chopra," he concluded.
