The brief meeting took place at the Parliament House. After the meeting with Gandhi, Yechury also held talks with Ahmed Patel, Political Secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
There was no official word from either CPI(M) or Congress on what transpired at the meetings which assume significane in view of coming West Bengal Assembly polls where the state units of the two parties are pitching for an alliance to take on Mamata Banerjee-led ruling Trinamool Congress.
