The body of 28-year-old Jitendra Yadav was dug out with the help of a JCB machine after almost three hours of efforts, they said.
Jitendra's father had installed a tubewell in his field but there was a deep open borewell pit nearby. The victim was taking out bricks from the borewell last evening when the mud inside the borewell caved in and he slipped and fell into it, police said.
After their efforts to rescue him failed, the villagers informed the police who reached the spot and pulled him out, police said.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem and an investigation is on.
