The incident took place last evening when the youth, identified as Vinay Lamba (21) was driving a SUV at high speed and drove into no-entry at Chintamani chowk in Talao Pali, Thane Nagar police station sub-inspector G A Kekan said.
"On being stopped by traffic personnel who asked him to show his driving licence and other related documents, the boy got back into the car and drove it, ramming the parked auto rickshaws. Two-three traffic constables and rickshaw drivers were also injured," he said, adding, a girl was also accompanying the boy.
After interrogating the youth, police said he works at a garage and had taken out the car just to take a ride with his friend that must have come to the garage for repair.
The youth has been charged under sections 279 (rash driving), 307 (attempt to commit murder), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) and other sections of Motors Vehicles Act.
