The incident took place near San Martin Marg on December 25, when the youth, identified as Satish Kumar, whose marriage was to take place in next few months, had gone out regarding some office work.
"When Satish, who works as a field boy, was going on his scooty (two-wheeler), an unknown speeding car hit him from behind around 11 AM on December 25 and fled the spot," a senior police official said.
The official also said that after the incident, the victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
However, victim's neighbours have suspected foul play in the incident.
"Satish suffered injuries on his head and neck, but his scooty was not damaged which suggests that some persons might have attacked him on his head from the car when he was on his scooty," Neeraj Kumar, a neighbour of Satish, claimed.
