Sahil alias Diler (26), was killed late last night, Sirmour Additional SP N S Negi said.
The deceased hawker was living with his other companions at a rented house in Naya Gaon locality of Majra village.
Attackers, believed to be more than one in numbers, first locked the room from outside in which companions of deceased were sleeping and fired at Sahil who was sleeping on a cot in the courtyard outside their rented room.
A case under section 302 of IPC and Arms Act has been registered at Paonta police station.
