Karthik, son of a BJP leader in Pajir near here, had suffered serious injuries in the attack by an unidentified gang yesterday.
Police said they had formed five teams to probe the the case.
BJP workers, who gathered at the hospital, gave an ultimatum to the police to arrest the culprits within a day.
State Food Minister U T Khader visited the hospital yesterday.
BJP's Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who visited the hospital, said he had spoken to the police commissioner and requested him to take immediate action to nab the criminals.
The party's next course of action would be decided tomorrow, he told reporters.
