Reddy said there are 50-55 per cent people belonging to the Other Backward Classes category in the country but their representation in the Lok Sabha is just 18-20 per cent.
"The bills if passed will protect rights of OBCs and give these rights constitutional sanctity," he told reporters here.
He said OBCs should be given reservation on the lines of SC/STs who enjoy reservation according to their population.
The other bill seeks insertion of Article 15(4), 15(5) and 16(4) in the Constitution to give reservations to OBCs in government jobs, educational institutions based on their population.
"Even in Andhra Pradesh, there are 143 backward classes and they too are under-represented," he said.
