Zinc prices surged by 0.36 per cent to Rs 151.95 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up positions amid pick up in demand at the domestic spot markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September rose by 55 paise, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 151.95 per kg in business turnover of three lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in August contracts edged up by 40 paise, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 151.95 per kg in 277 lots.
Analysts said increased demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets drove the upside in zinc prices at futures trade here.
They said, however, weakness in most industrial metals overseas restricted the gains.
