Zinc prices went up by 1.13 per cent to Rs 174.50 per kg in futures trading today as traders enlarged positions, taking positive cues from spot market on strong demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in February rose by Rs 1.95, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 174.50 per kg, in a business turnover of 42 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in January was trading higher by Rs 1.90, or 1.10 per cent, to Rs 174.05 per kg in 1,015 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to upsurge in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
