Tracking gains in base metals overseas and better domestic demand, zinc futures today edged up by 1.37 per cent to Rs 181.60 per kg as speculators enlarged positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May moved up by Rs 2.45, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 181.60 per kg with a business turnover of 59 lots.
The metal for delivery in April also rose by Rs 2.35, or 1.32 per cent, to trade at Rs 180.90 per kg in a business volume of 137 lots.
Marketmen said apart from improved demand in the domestic spot market, a firming trend in select base metals overseas, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
