The accused, Pravinkumar Devichand Jain, a class I officer, who demanded and accepted the bribe from a contractor, was trapped and arrested by the Thane Division of the ACB, an official release said.
The complainant told the ACB sleuths that for the past many years, his firm has been supplying stationery to the zilla parishad, which owed a sum of Rs 69.35 lakh for the stationery and furniture made by the company.
When the complainant approached Jain for the payment of dues, he sought commission to clear it.
The aggrieved contractor lodged a complaint, following which a trap was laid on Friday and the officer was nabbed in his office while accepting the bribe of Rs 10,000.
The accused has been charged under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
