Red sandalwood logs seized in Kadapa, four held

Around 3 tonnes of red sandalwood logs, worth around Rs 8 lakh, were seized from two different places in Proddatur forest division of the district today and four persons arrested in this connection.
Forest personnel arrested the four persons, suspected to be smugglers of red sandalwood, from Salem and Vellore towns.
"While 88 logs of the precious wood, weighing about 2.5 tonnes and a lorry were seized at Kondapeta in Chennur mandal, 12 logs (of red sanders) weighing 500 kgs and a lorry were seized from Porumamilla," said District Forest Officer (DFO) Ravisankar.
