Recent news reports indicate that T N Seshan has finally decided to contest the Presidential elections.

It is most unfortunate that the former chief election commissioners secret and cleverly concealed ambition to become the President of India has now come out openly.

I was an admirer of Mr Seshan. Still am. It is doubtless that he was an able administrator. As an active, efficient and effective CEC, he was a great success. His greatest credit is that through stern decisions and quick actions, he made sweeping election reforms and eliminated muscle power and money power from the election scene, which his predecessors were not able to do. Barring these qualities, he was notorious for his short-temper. He is considered rigid, arrogant and outspoken. It is said that he has no respect for the Fourth Estate, which is one of the main pillars of a democracy. The other thing that comes out clear in his personality is that power seems to intoxicate him. He is megalomaniac, and such a person is not fit to occupy the chair of the President. He all the potential qualities of a dictator.

The President of the worlds largest democracy should be balanced, matured, well-educated and non-controversial.
