The Delhi High Court has upheld acquisition of land by Badarpur thermal power plant for dumping flyash in the southern suburb of the capital. The existing flyash dump site will not be able to cater to the requirements of the power plant beyond 1999, a division bench was informed by the government. Petitioner Parmal Singh Choudhary had challenged the acquisition alleging that the mandatory prior consent of government for the purpose was not taken. Choudhary is among the villagers whose land has been acquired by the power plant.
