Power distribution giant BSES Limiteds plans to expand in the generation sector are being held up due to the government ban on any industrial activity in this ecologically fragile coastal town in Maharashtra, where BSES has put up its first 500 mw plant. It has appealed to the Centre to scrap the notifications issued in 1991, to enable it to expand the capacity of the plant to 1000 mw, as part of its proposal to put up 2000 mw in the next five years.
