The Confederation of Indian Industry, in collaboration with the Federation of Bangladesh Commerce and Industry, has instituted a study to identify the areas of business between the two nations to reduce the trade gap. The two bodies will meet in May with their report and a final proposal stating the industry recommendations will be placed before the respective governments.
At present, the trade ratio between India and Bangladesh is 98:2, whereby India exports goods worth $1 billion and imports $70 million from Bangladesh. One of the suggestions made by the Bangladeshi industry is to promote Indian investment in their country through joint ventures and collaborations.
