CMC has tied up with Apple Computers to provide simple solutions of data storage and cross reference to the `auxilliary nurses and midwives of Ajmer.
A senior official of CMC explained that the healthcare services in most parts of India are hampered by inordinate time spent on data collection and storage of the patients health record rather than on administering medicare.
The district and village level healthcare personnel usually waste time in keeping complicated reports which lack transparency and often result in mistakes in prescriptions.
The `easy-to-use computer being developed will solve these problems.
The palm-sized computer will have no keyboard attached to it. The keyboard functions will be performed by touching a pen to the screen where the letters will be displayed.
The whole procedure of patient records will be simplified as the software will display a number of options on the screen which the healthcare personnel will simply tick by touch.
At the end of the day the information collected can simply be transferred to the PC at the base camp by using the palm computer like a remote control.
Infra-red rays will pass on the information to the PC at the touch of a pen on the screen of the palm computer. Similarly, before setting off to call on any patient, the information regarding the patients history can be downloaded from the PC.
