Director Suspended

The Kerala government has suspended social irrigation project director G Devapalan Nair for causing a loss of Rs 40 lakh to the exchequer by purchasing unnecessary equipment. An official release here yesterday said the suspension followed an enquiry by the chief technical examiner who found that Nair had told the government that certain equipment was urgently required by his department, but no use was found for it afterwards.
