Export House Status For State Corporations

Such corporations will be able to get special import licenses and other benefits offered to export houses. The facility was also introduced earlier in August 1993 and the corporations that were given the status then can now renew it.

The state can select the state corporation to receive the benefit. Export house status would give such corporations the required status for negotiating on behalf of smaller exporters who lack the market expertise and organisational infrastructure for promoting their products in the international market. The commerce ministry has been trying to involve Chief Ministers of all the Indian states to increase their export effort.

To this end, the commerce ministry had set up a states cell in 1994. It is also currently examining the possibility of setting up a standing committee for promotion of exports by states.
