The French are making a desperate bid to revive the issue of anti-dumping duties against unbleached cotton fabric from India, even though the deadline ended yesterday. I have no idea what is happening. There is no decision yet, said Willem De Munck, who heads the European Commissions (EC) anti-dumping cell. France tried to raise the anti-dumping issue at an European Union (EU) foreign ministers meeting on Tuesday but got the cold shoulders from Britain and the Dutch who said that the subject was not on the agenda. However, it is understood that EC President Jacques Santer made a strong appeal at the meeting. The French were also hoping to raise the anti-dumping issue at an ambassador-level meeting yesterday.
