In future section, September contract remained untraded while December contract opened up and advanced further toward closing. Groundnut oil fell further by Rs 6 at Rs 432 per 10 kg on reduced demand at higher level coupled with brisk arrivals from the producing centres. Arrivals were put higher at about 100/130 truck-loads after a holiday of three days.

In other oils, kopra oil white looked up by Rs 10 to Rs 490 per 10 kg on restricted availability of ready stock and improved industrial demand. Rapeseed oil refined and soyabean oil refined eased by Re 1 each to Rs 317 and Rs 314 per 10 kg respectively on easy offtake.

Castor oil Commercial and BSS varieties firmed up by Rs 1.50 per 10 kg each to Rs 255 and Rs 267 respectively on moderate offtake. Imported palmolein eased by Rs 2 at Rs 274 per 10 kg on improved arrivals of imported goods coupled with better offtake.

Meanwhile, majority of other oils ruled overall steady on narrow movements. In future section, December contract opened up by Rs 2 at Rs 153 and improved to Rs 162.50 per quintal on better speculative buying pressure. It declined to Rs 1,153 before closing at Rs 1,160 on speedy short-coverings.

In oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Kanpur advanced further up by Rs 7 per quintal each to Rs 1,128 and Rs 1,122 respectively. Meanwhile, all the other oilseeds ruled overall steady on narrow movements.

A slightly firm to steady trend was noticed at the wholesale sugar market. The announcement of higher sugar quota for October has clearly left the effect on the market which still continues. The demand was slack. Sugar S-30 grade firmed up to Rs 1,305/1,330 from the previous level of Rs 1,285/1,330 per quintal, while M-30 grade was quoted at Rs 1,330/1,380 as against of Rs 1,320/1,390 on dull demand

Sugar prices for check-post deliveries were alsoeetcuttings, Rs 92.00 a kg and aluminium utensils, Rs.58.50.
