Hc Orders Closure Of Dyeing Units

The green bench of the Madras High Court yesterday directed the immediate closure of 44 dyeingand bleaching units at Tiruppur in Coimbatore district for not taking any steps to set up effluent treatment plants, despite earlier orders from the court.

Acting Chief Justice K A Thanikkachalam Justice n v balasubramaniam directed the state pollution

control board to ensure that these units were closed. The bench gave a further four months time to 420 other

units, which had been asked to set up individual ETPs and 288 units, which were to be brought under common ETPs, to complete the process of establishing the treatment plants.
