The Delhi High Court yesterday asked the department of telecommunications (DoT) to reconsider contracts given to various firms on the basis of 1994-95 tender for the supply of transmission equipment.
Justice C M Nayar, while admitting a petition by two firms challenging the approval of bids from five firms which allegedly quoted much higher price than theirs, asked DoT to reconsider the bids and said the fresh decision would be subject to the final outcome of the case. The firms, P S Measurement and VXL, had alleged due to these arbitrary allotments, the Centre would suffer a Rs 13.36 crore loss. They also said the DoT ignored suggestions of the technical evaluation committee which ruled for the bulk of the order being given to the petitioner firms.
