The exception was Pakistan, where prices were set to rise after a two-week fall. Higher demand would flow from good cotton and rice crops boosting growers' coffers, they said.

Dealers in Mumbai said there was some support last week due to festival buying at lower levels. If the festival demand wasn't there, it would have fallen further.
