Investors Shun Road Projects Due To High Risk Factor

Funding institutions and banks continue to perceive investment in road and bridge construction as a high-risk business with a long gestation period than sectors like power, telecommunications, port and aviation. This was the view that emerged at the global investors convention, here yesterday.

The two-day seminar is being organised by the Maharashtra government in association with Indusind International Federation, Ficci and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services. Housing Finance Development Corporation chairman Deepak Parekh told Business Standard the main problem in developing road and bridge infrastructure lay in acquiring land for projects.
