The Kerala government yesterday decided to ban monsoon trawling along the states coast for 45 days from June 15. Briefing newsmen after a cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister, E K Nayanar, said the government would press the centre to ban deep sea fishing also during the period. The irrigation minister, Baby John, who was also present said the government was taking expeditions measures to combat cholera which had claimed two lives in Alappuzha district. Awareness campaigns would be launched and experts would conduct water testing every day in the district. So far 32 adults and 22 children had been hospitalised with symptoms of cholera. Of them three had been found cholera-positive, the minister said.
