Trading was sporadic in kerb sessions yesterday while the stock markets remained closed for official trading on account of Maharashtra Day. Brokers said the trading volumes were extremely thin and interest was seen only in Thursday's early morning kerb trading.

Reliance was quoted at Rs 308.5 (against an official close of Rs 308 on Wednesday), ITC at Rs 414.5 (Rs 413.5), SBI was steady at Rs 318-318.5 while Tata Steel was quoted at Rs 183.5 (Rs 182.5). Brokers said the trading was limited mainly to RIL and Tata Steel stocks.

Brokers are unlikely to take up large positions at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday, since it is the last day of the current settlement cycle at the exchange. With corporate results not expected to be strong and the FII inflows into the markets still poor, the stock market indices are set to move in a narrow range.

The BSE, the National Stock Exchange and the Over-the-Counter Exchange of India remained closed yesterday on account of Maharashtra Day.
