The Nasdaq Stock Market has announced several new services for investors on its World Wide Web site (www nasdaq.corn). It is already one of the most visited investor sites on the web.
The first is a free portfolio tracking service that will enable investors to follow the performance of stocks listed on Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange. One's portfolio can also include mutual funds and options, and investors can set up as many as ten portfolios, each up to 30 securities or funds. The second new feature, which began in early January, gives investors access to prices, or net asset values for 6500 mutual funds.
Nasdaq will be using Java technology to make the portfolio tracking service more dynamic with automatic updates as often as every three minutes.
Users will be able to customise and chart information for each portfolio, choosing from 24 features that includes last sale price, or net asset value if it is a fund, current value, change in value from the previous day in both dollar and percentage terms, quantity of shares held, annual price highs and lows, percentage of total portfolio, annualised dividends, earnings per share and Price in Exchange (PE) ratio.
The service also enables investors to link directly to news on specific companies in their portfolios.
As an added feature, investors can register to receive information such as earnings reports or prospectuses, directly from Nasdaq-listed companies.
