Dutch shipping and road transport group Koninklijke Nedlloyd Groep NV said a reorganisation of its unit Nedlloyd Road Cargo BV was expected to result in the loss of about 100 jobs of a total 680.

The subsidiary will focus on transport and logistics for the chemicals sector, where it already generates most of its turnover.

The activities will be combined in three product groups within Nedlloyd Road Cargo.

"Nedlloyd Road Cargo is convinced that these measures will put a stop to the loss-making situation of recent years," Nedlloyd said in a statement.

Nedlloyd said it would look at possibilities to continue the unit's non-core activities within the Nedlloyd group or outside the company. These non-core activities included transport of packed cargo, refrigerated and frozen goods and airfreight trucking. The reorganisation of Nedlloyd Road Cargo BV should be concluded within a year, the Nedlloyd statement added.
