A 35-year-old man, who allegedly worked as a middleman between the underworld and bookies, was arrested from Mumbai in connection with IPL spot-fixing case, police said today

Firoz was arrested from Kamatipura yesterday and was produced before a Delhi court which sent him to five days police custody.

With this, a total of 28 people, including cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, were arrested since May 16 in the case.

All except Ramesh Vyas and Chandila have got bail in the case in which stringent MCOCA was invoked.

Police sources said Firoz was in touch with Dawood Ibrahim-led cartel running the betting racket.

He is also a competitor of Vyas and had been on the run since the scandal came to light.

After spending 26 days behind the bars in IPL spot-fixing case, Sreesanth, however walked free from Tihar Jail yesterday along with Ankit Chavan and 17 others.

Sreesanth was arrested along with Chavan and another player Ajit Chandila on May 16 from Mumbai by Delhi Police.

All the 19, including Sreesanth, Chavan and 14 alleged bookies, were granted bail yesterday by a court here.

In between, Chavan was granted interim bail for his marriage.
