Any enhancement of investment ceiling of SSI will definitely be accompanied by proportionate increase in the ceiling for the tiny sector also, he said.

Maran was addressing a seminar on accelerating industrial growth in southern India in the national perspective of industrial development organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry here yesterday.

The southern region, comprising of the four states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and the union territory of Pondicherry, the minister pointed out, will have to improve power generation if it is to stay in the race for attracting investment both from within the country and abroad.

Develop power or you will be left behind, he warned, and said an excess power situation will automatically bring in investment.
