As vice-president and general manager of the division, Prophet is currently overseeing the launch of the turbo generator, an oil-free engine based on aerospace and automotive technologies. Allied Signals is now targetting India, and Prophet visited Power-Gen Asia '96 to set the ball rolling. We are here to look for a local partner "" we are talking to groups like Birla, Tata and BHEL "" and to build our relationship with the Indian government, he says.
As Prophet spells out the advantages of the turbo generator over the diesel generator, it is clear that he is more comfortable talking about his company's latest innovation than about himself. After some prodding, he tells you that he is an engineer, and an MBA from Stanford. He worked with Booz, Allen and Hamilton for eight years and was a partner in the consultancy firm when this very good business opportunity in Allied Signals came my way.
Prophet began by taking charge of the aerospace equipment systems of the company, and in two years acquired a
reputation for developing global growth strategies. Now, he is confident that Allied Signals will become the world leader in
turbo generators. Turbo generator will do for power generation what PCs did for the computer industry two decades ago,
he declares. #include virtual="/incs/bottom.inc"-->
