Following a dull start with share prices just maintained at their previous closing rates, the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) witnessed a spirited rally on active bull support. Brokers said, the position changed abruptly on profittaking wiping out a good part of the gains.
The falling trend persisted till close with the result that select issues even finished below their previous closing rates. The turnover was fair and undertone steady. The 50-share CSE index closed at 95.16 points after fluctuating between 97.16 points and 95.01 points.
In the specified list ACC finished at Rs 1,286, Tisco at Rs 123.80 and Tata Tea at Rs 396.50 while ITC closed at Rs 579.90, SBI at Rs 238.10, RIL at Rs 154.10, Castrol at Rs 671.50, HLL at Rs 1393, Bajaj Auto at Rs 475, with BSES pegged at Rs 169.10.
Among others CESC wound up at Rs 29.35, L&T at Rs 188, Hindalco at Rs 610, Hind Motor at Rs 11.40, Indo Gulf at Rs 33.75, MTNL at Rs 226.50, RPL at Rs 23.60, and LML at Rs 98.20, Jaiprakash at Rs 10.
