Orthodox and crushed tear curl (CTC) tea prices ruled flat-to-easy on limited demand and increased offerings at last week's auction in Coonoor, South India's largest tea auction centre. In the leaf category, orthodox brokens and fannings realised irregular prices and were often quoted lower by Rs two a kg. Orange pekoes were, however, dearer. CC brokens were barely steady and as the sale progressed were quoted 50 paise lower, while declining by as much as Re one towards the close. Fannings grade were firm to dearer. In the dust section, orthodox prices declined by Rs 3 to Rs 5 a kg, while finer dusts were lower by Re one to Rs two. CTC dusts were flat because of declining trend.
