Trading Volumes Rise To Rs 107.88 Crore

The wholesale debt market segment of the National Stoack Excahnge witnessed trades to the tune of Rs 107.88 crore,

marginally higher than Wednesday's figures.

Trading activity picked up on a day when the calls hovered between 9 and 10 per cent.

A few transactions were said to have taken place even at a higher rate of 10 per cent.

Dominating the day's trade were the 364-day treasury bills and the 13.70-per cent central government security maturing in 1999.

The one-year paper maturing on October 10 1997 saw a cumulative deal for Rs 34 crore at a yield of 12.50 per cent.

These deals, to be settled the same day, were concluded at a price of Rs 89.07.

This was followed by another transaction for Rs 5 crore in the same paper at a yield of 12.47 per cent. The deal is to be settled after one day.

The 13.70-per cent central government security maturing in 1999 was also traded for Rs 5 crore at a yield of 13.45 per cent.

The IFCI certificate of deposit (CD), which is to mature on January 24 1997, was traded for Rs 5 crore at a yield of 13 per cent.

The deal, to be settled the same day, was wrapped up at a price of Rs 96.59.
