Transactions Soar To Rs 867.73 Cr

The wholesale debt market segment at the National Stock Exchange has clocked a very active trading yesterday, reporting 142 deals and a volume of Rs 867.73 crore. The prices of the government securities moved up by nearly 15 to 20 paise across the board.
The treasury bill segment saw 15 crore while the commercial paper segment saw volume of Rs 55 crore.
The day saw massive demand for 11.55 per cent government loan maturing on 2001 accounting volume of Rs 145 crore. The paper 25 trades and was traded at the weighted average yield of 11.36 per cent. The paper was traded for a low of Rs 100.28 and high of Rs 100.40.
The newly issued 11.68 per cent loan maturing on 2002 was actively traded for Rs 127 crore. The paper was traded at the weighted average yield of 11.54 per cent, at the low of Rs 100.32 and high of Rs 100.40.
The 11.64 per cent loan maturing on 2000 too was in demand recording 13 trades and volume of Rs 79 crore. The paper was dealt at a weighted yield of 10.81 per cent, at a low of Rs 101.34 and high of Rs 101.43.
The CP of Ashok Leyland maturing on September 4, 1998, was traded for Rs 20 crore at the yield of 7.75 per cent and priced at Rs 99.51.
